Built in 1653, Meadhon House is the oldest house in the Castlegate. Along with its other claims to fame, it was used by Bonnie Prince Charlie horses on his ill fated ride south in 1745.
Miss Cruickshank, a young muse of Robert Burns came to Meadon house as a new bride, she was the inspiration for "A rosebud by my early walk." and " A beauteous rosebud young and gay".
